HISTORY ASPECTS:The Dassault Breguet Dornier Alpha Jet 01 Prototype marked a pivotal moment in the history of Franco-German collaboration in military aviation. Developed jointly by France and West Germany the Alpha Jet was initially designed to replace the Fouga Magister in France and the Fiat G.91 in Germany with a dual role as both a light attack aircraft and an advanced jet trainer. The first prototype Alpha Jet 01 made its maiden flight on October 26 1973 showcasing its capabilities with a sleek and compact design powered by twin SNECMA Turbomeca Larzac engines. The successful test flights paved the way for mass production with both nations adopting the Alpha Jet for their air forces.During its operational history the Alpha Jet saw its first real combat deployment in the 1980s when it was used by France during various African conflicts.
