This walking tour takes you on a journey through the lanes of this 100-acre open-air museum to visit several of its historical buildings. They all have one thing in common: they’re believed to be haunted! This tour takes place in a delightful setting: St Fagans National Museum of History. The museum features restored buildings that were rescued from all over Wales and reopened here to show how Welsh people lived, worked and worshipped throughout the centuries. It was the first museum of its type in Britain, and is Wales’s top heritage attraction. Along the way, you’ll hear about each building’s history and the ghostly tales that have been shared about it over the years, right up until today. No one knows why this spot is tied to so many ghost stories. It might be due to the location’s previous use as farmland, and home to an ancient castle. Once the site of Wales’s largest ever battle in 1648, perhaps these rebuilt structures brought with them the spirits of their former occupants? The tour itself is based on my own ghost walk which I created in 2015, with a clear focus on simple and authentic storytelling, with no set-ups or gimmicks. The walks became hugely popular and sometimes things really did seem to go “bump in the night”! I ceased operating the walks in 2019 when I moved from Wales to Denmark, but I’m delighted to offer this audio tour as a lasting recollection. To help bring the intriguing and ghostly atmosphere to life, I’ve added music and sound effects. Please enjoy!
