Retrace Quebec’s history on a walk along the city’s fortifications to discover their military past. By the end of this walking tour, you’ll be familiar with this historic site, and also the unique blend of architectural styles, influenced by the French and British, that many of the surrounding buildings feature. Along the way, you’ll learn about the English conquest, and a lesser-known attack led by an American army. I’ll paint a picture so you can imagine yourself here during times of attack and siege, and during peaceful times when large gatherings took place on Esplanade Park during the military parades. You’ll also learn about Old Quebec’s omnipresent religious heritage and, in particular, that of the surrounding area. This 60-minute tour starts at Fontaine de Tourny and ends at the famous Place d’Youville, a hub of entertainment.
