It was one of the most successful fighters of its time and was famous for its speed and agility. The Spitfire T9 was built to be a training aircraft for the Royal Air Force and it was first flown in 1944. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 66 engine and it had a top speed of over 400 mph.During World War II the Spitfire T9 was used in various conflicts including the Battle of Britain the North African Campaign and the Italian Campaign. It was also used in the Pacific theater of operations where it played a significant role in the defense of Australia.
