Space is often shrouded in mystery. Cool locations are only accessible by appointment or during rare open days. Shatter these boundaries by taking the Space Tourist Amsterdam tour! You’ll explore the city’s cosmic connections and discover key sites in Amsterdam’s vibrant space ecosystem while using the city’s clockwork-like public transport system. On this 150-minute hybrid walking-and-transit tour, I’ll show you places where the space industry actually operates. You’ll travel by tram, bus, and even stroll while I share anecdotes and insights that only space professionals know about. Space Tourist Amsterdam is all about the diversity of space business, research, and art. The tour starts at the De Gooyer Windmill, where you’ll get into the space mindset. You’ll zigzag through Amsterdam on public transport, while I share some lesser-known space facts about the Maritime Museum and ARTIS. You’ll learn about the vibrant space industry in Amsterdam, and what people study at the Vrije Universiteit to make lunar settlements a reality. And since it’s Amsterdam, you’ll also have an opportunity to enjoy some space-inspired art in the Stedelijk Museum. The tour ends on a philosophical note on Rembrandtplein. Here, you’ll see The Thinker, a golden astronaut inspired by the 19th-century artist Auguste Rodin’s sculpture of the same name, and be grounded in what is happening in space tourism today. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to: • Learn about the Association of Space Explorers, a group whose members include people who’ve completed at least one Earth orbit, or flown to the moon and back • Relax on Amsterdam’s public transport as you take in more of the city, enjoying the sights and sounds from the comfort of your tram or bus seat • Dig deeper with bonus tracks that cover the space exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam • Pass the NEMO Science Museum and hear about its space exhibition • Enjoy a short stroll through the popular Museumplein and past the Rijksmuseum • Experience the diversity of space businesses, space disciplines, and its fields of study For me, space is everywhere. By the end of the tour, you’ll see it too. Spoiler alert: It is mainly here on Earth! Please note that public transport tickets and entry fees to museums are not included in the tour price.
