HISTORY ASPECTS:The Sd.Kfz. 234/3 "Stummel" was a variant of the eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz. 234 armored car series designed to provide fire support for reconnaissance units. Unlike the Puma which was armed with an anti-tank gun the 234/3 was equipped with a short-barreled 75mm K51 L/24 gun a weapon derived from the StuG III assault gun. This modification allowed the vehicle to engage enemy infantry soft-skinned vehicles and fortified positions making it a valuable asset in both offensive and defensive operations.By March 1945 the 1st Panzer Division deployed the Sd.Kfz. 234/3 during the fierce battles in Hungary. As the German Army attempted to slow the Soviet advance the "Stummel" was used in both reconnaissance and rearguard actions.
