HISTORY ASPECTS:The Sd.Kfz. 234/2 "Puma" was one of the most advanced armored cars fielded by the German Army during World War II. Designed as part of the Sd.Kfz. 234 series the Puma featured a fully enclosed turret housing a 5 cm KwK 39 L/60 cannon giving it significantly greater firepower than earlier German reconnaissance vehicles. Its eight-wheel drive high speed and excellent off-road mobility made it an effective scout vehicle capable of hit-and-run tactics and rapid reconnaissance. Though designed for fast-moving warfare by 1944 the German Army was increasingly on the defensive using these vehicles in desperate counterattacks and delaying actions.During the Battle of Normandy the 2nd Panzer Division deployed its Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Pumas to counter the Allied invasion following D-Day (June 6 1944).
