Jakob built his vast fortune in just a few short years, leaving behind assets worth two million guilders ($300 billion today) making him one of the richest men who ever lived! On this walking tour around Augsburgâs old town, Jakob will show you St. Anneâs Church where you can see the Fuggerâs crypt, the familyâs first company headquarters where the âGolden Scriptoriumâ was once located, and one of the most famous of the Fugger buildings, their City Palace. Youâll also have an opportunity to see Königsplatz where one of the old city gates, the Gögginger Tor, once stood, to explore the Townhall Square, Rathausplatz, and to take in the place where Jakob was born. Along the way, youâll hear about how the Fuggers made their money, the familyâs connection to royalty, and how the women were every bit as savvy when it came to business. This 2km tour is suitable for people with slight mobility handicaps.
