HISTORY ASPECTS:The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) Ausf. E was a formidable German assault gun designed to provide infantry with close support during World War II. Based on the chassis of the Panzer III the Ausf. E variant featured an improved 75mm StuK 37 L/24 gun ideal for engaging fortified positions and light armored vehicles. Introduced in 1941 it was equipped with additional armor protection to enhance survivability against enemy fire making it a crucial component of Germany’s combined arms doctrine.StuG.Abt. 191 a unit equipped with these assault guns played a pivotal role during Operation Barbarossa the German invasion of the Soviet Union.
