Operation Torch was the Allied invasion of French North Africa during World War II aimed at reducing pressure on Allied forces in Egypt and opening a second front against Axis forces.The Swordfish often affectionately known as the "Stringbag" was a biplane torpedo bomber that first flew in 1934.
