Most visitors are bowled over by Rathlin’s stunning natural beauty, but they often leave without hearing about the island’s rich and dramatic history. On this walking tour, I’ll show you how past events created an island and a people with unique character that you can’t help but be enraptured by. I’m Geraldine, otherwise known as 'yellowferret', and I’m proud to guide you on this tour. Along the way, I’ll share stories about some of Rathlin’s fascinating places, whetting your appetite for further island explorations. This walk takes us on a circular stroll around the harbour ’townlands’ where the bustle of Church Bay soon melts into idyllic coast and country pathways. You’ll learn about monks and massacres, fishermen and fairies, vikings and viscounts, as well as pirates and puffins, all while taking in modern island life. Join me on this hour-long walk and by the end, you too shall experience that ‘Rathlin feeling’, when you shift into a lower gear and your spirit exhales.
