HISTORY ASPECTS:The Douglas A-4E Skyhawk "Aggressor" Bureau Number 151095 served as a vital part of the U.S. Navy’s adversary training program during the mid-1980s. The A-4E a lightweight highly maneuverable attack aircraft was originally designed for carrier-based operations. However by the 1980s many A-4Es were reassigned to aggressor squadrons to simulate enemy aircraft in combat training scenarios. Aircraft 151095 was painted in striking camouflage schemes to replicate the appearance of Soviet and other adversary airframes providing U.S. Navy pilots with realistic air combat training.The aircraft was assigned to Navy Fighter Weapons School better known as "Top Gun" during 1985-1986. Its role was to mimic the flight characteristics of enemy MiG fighters pushing U.S. pilots to refine their skills in dogfighting and tactics.
