In her garden, Mrs. Merwin, a friend of the creators of diptyque, cuts the blackcurrant and rose bushes to add the petals of the latter to her potpourri. The combination of blackcurrant leaves and rose petals was the inspiration for one of diptyque's most famous fragrances. This perfume was developed in 1983; the top notes are characterized by Bulgarian rose to which are added the green notes of blackcurrant leaves, giving it a pleasant freshness. The shadows of its name are balanced by the freshness, a reminder of a lush garden on the water's edge.
