The USS Tang is an American Balao-class submarine from the Second World War. The ship's armament included 24 torpedoes, an anti-aircraft gun and two machine guns. The maximum tested operational depth was 180 meters (588 ft). She was launched on August 17, 1943 and sunk in October 1944 during its fifth patrol with 8 survivors, including Commander Richard O'Kane. Statistics indicate that it sank between 24 to 31 enemy vessels; making it the most successful submarine of the Pacific war.
The finished model features detachable hull side plating, under which there is a block-built model of the engine. The finished masterpiece measures 66 cm long and includes accessories such as the US flag, movable artillery barrels, and turbines to further increase the realism of the model.
