The Sopwith F.1 Camel is the most famous British fighter from World War I. It was designed and built by the Sopwith Aviation Company, and gained fame due to its high combat efficiency and maneuverability in dogfights with German planes during this time period. The Camel fighters shot down a total of 1,294 enemy machines throughout WWI; they were rendered obsolete mid-1918 because their speed left something to be desired as well as their performance at higher altitudes against newer aircraft, so they were repurposed for attacks on ground targets instead - support for infantry troops or harassment of German forces on land.
This model is piloted by a figure inspired by William Barker. This Canadian from the RAF was one of the most famous and prolific Sopwith Camel pilots, shooting down 46 enemy planes and observation balloons in just one year of active service!
